Description

Layers of Autumn is a large square oil painting of a woodland autumn path with a deer stag materialising out of it. It is 48x48x1.5 inches, deep edges, no frame needed and ready to hang. The painting shows a view down an autumn path and is painted in a contemporary, slightly art nouveau style. It has many overlapping layers and transparent veils that make it look as if reality is shifting. There are shafts of sunlight through vibrant coloured leaves which overlap vertical lines and make a slightly geometric composition. The white stag is painted in thick paint but remains a little mystical as he is not fully formed. Autumn paths through woodland are usually inspiring. This one is actually based on one that used to be an old railway line from East Grinstead to Groombridge where it is common to see deer through the gaps in the trees and is always a treat.
