Description
It is July 4th 1944 and a B-17 USAAF bomber attacking Nazi-held airfields in Northern France loses two engines to anti-aircraft fire. Returning to base in England, a third engine fails and the Captain tells his crew they must make an emergency landing, without wheels. At 18 Downview Road, Felpham, Sussex, Ethel Cheney looks out of her kitchen window to see the bomber flop into her garden and stop six feet from where she is standing. The first thing Ethel does of course is to make the bomber crew a nice cup of tea.
This is an original relief print pulled from engraved rubber, in an edition of 6 only. All materials used are of high quality. The sheet would fit straight into a standard 11 x 13 inch frame.
