Description

This print was inspired by a stone carving I came upon passing Trinity House at Tower Hill, London. The history of Trinity House goes back to 1514. Their mission is the safety of shipping and the well-being of seafarers. The Headquarters at Tower Hill was built in 1796 but was largely destroyed in the Blitz of 1940. After the war it was faithfully rebuilt and re-opened by the Queen in 1953. The name of Trinity House indicates a spiritually guided mission and I have taken a fragment of a Psalm as a title for the piece. The line complete reads, 'Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.'
This is a relief print pulled from engraved rubber. The colour is a dark grey-green.
