Description
The artwork is inspired by an old Irish legend with an historical date of 637AD. The title of the legend is Buile Suibhne, or the madness of Buile. Having seriously offended a Christian cleric called Ronan, the cleric puts a curse on Buile that makes him insane and turns him into a half man and half bird.
In this scene of conflict Buile is running away after assaulting Ronan and throwing his holy book of psalms into the nearby lake.
