This atmospheric work began as a sketch made in Malta, capturing a fleeting moment of light, shade, and human presence. Developed into a rear-painted acrylic and layered behind intricately carved Perspex, the piece combines painterly expression with sculptural surface.
Tall, textured trees form a rhythmic screen across the composition, their vertical energy contrasting with the quiet intimacy of the seated figures beyond. Dappled Mediterranean light filters through the foliage, creating rich shadows and warm, earthy tones that evoke the heat and stillness of the Maltese landscape.
