In order to reach absolute equilibrium we need the 2 polar opposite extremes; otherwise, we would be out of balance overtaken by one side.
In the painting, this is represented by the difference in mass between the 2 entities- one is present and solid, while the other is ghost-like, fading away. The wings emphasise the freedom unlocked by the serenity reached through the fusion of the 2 opposites. The stormy background illustrates the journey through life "Share with Pinterest"){kind=small}
