Description
5th March 1944
Lt. Carl Leo of the 384th Fighter Squadron 364th FG was returning from a long mission to Berlin when he developed hydraulic problems that left him little option but to bail out of his P38 'Leo' whilst over the North Sea.
His best pal Dick Heyman turns his own P38, 'Lucky Lindy' for home after having first made sure that Carl was safely out of his aircraft and floating down for an early bath.
Fortunately, he was picked up by the English Coastguard and was able to continue his war.
