Description

Common Redstart – Flame of the Woodland

The Common Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) is a striking small passerine, admired for its fiery orange breast, slate-grey back, and vivid rust-red tail that flickers like a flame with every movement.

In this artwork, the bird is shown poised with alert elegance, embodying the spirit of spring woodlands and stony clearings.
Redstarts are summer visitors to Europe, favouring open oak woodlands, orchards, and rocky slopes where they nest in tree holes and crevices. Agile and restless, they dart from perch to perch in pursuit of insects, their tail flashing like an ember in the breeze.

Their cheerful warbling song carries through sunlit glades, a herald of returning warmth.

This fine art reproduction is issued as a Limited Edition of 150 Giclée prints, produced with archival pigment inks on museum-quality paper. Each edition is hand-signed and numbered by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Poetic Note
A spark of fire on mossy stone,
A fleeting song, a voice alone.
It flames, it flickers, swift in flight,
A woodland ember burning bright.
