Description

Atlantic Puffin

This artwork captures the unmistakable charm of the Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica), often affectionately known as the “sea parrot.” Perched proudly upon a rugged coastal rock, the puffin is depicted in exquisite detail — from its striking black-and-white plumage to its vivid tri-coloured beak of orange, yellow, and slate-blue, which glows most brightly during the breeding season.

Puffins are seabirds of the North Atlantic, breeding in colonies along the cliffs and grassy slopes of Britain, Ireland, Iceland, and beyond. They nest in burrows or crevices, where each pair raises a single chick, known as a “puffling.” Remarkably agile both in the air and underwater, puffins use their short wings to “fly” beneath the sea, propelling themselves with powerful strokes to chase sand eels and other small fish.

Though adored for their comical expressions and upright stance, puffins are also symbols of resilience, thriving in some of the harshest coastal environments. Their seasonal return to the cliffs is celebrated each spring as one of nature's great spectacles.

Produced with archival pigment inks on fine art paper, this Limited Edition Giclée print (200) ensures lasting vibrancy and clarity, preserving every brushstroke of the bird's character. Each print is hand-signed and numbered by the artist, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Poetic Note
Upon the cliff, in sea-wind's call,
The puffin stands, so bright, so small.
A fleeting guest of summer's shore,
Then lost to ocean's endless roar
