Sandra’s art explores the territory between abstraction and images of a metaphorical nature from cartographic, mythic, and cultural traditions. Either using multiple layers of translucent patterns and marks or sculptural layers of paint a visual image is created.
Images are broken down and re-explored, offering to the viewer compositions that can be culturally or politically emotive in their back story but that are subtly removed from their literal context.
Sandra’s influences are people, nature, and the cultural ideals of past and present.
