Bridget Mattingly is willing to accept commissions
My Work
My subject matter is based on observation of all kinds of natural imagery from a crack in the pavement to a sweeping landscape. Initial images are recorded through photography, drawing, casting and collecting found items. I have found the work of land artists such as Richard Long and the Boyle family of particular interest and during my MA I made a series of works based on walks in my local environment. I have found the Bill McKibben quote ‘Each square foot of soil is stamped indelibly with our crude imprint’ a constant inspiration.
Techniques used in my work
I have used a wide variety of fine art printing techniques including Lino, Etching, Drypoint, Silkscreen, Stencil, Monoprint and Collograph. Most pieces are AP (Artist’s Proof) meaning that the image is unique, although I sometimes print a small edition of about five pieces.
I have developed several techniques for collecting imprints from textured surfaces such as rock or the ground
