Description

"In the last few years, after I had stopped being a baby, this place that had always been here for us started to become busier and busier, more and more were coming to drink and bathe. So many that, I sometimes thought that there would not be enough for me and my family and sadly I noticed that recently this was in fact becoming true.”
Each time his family were forced farther away in there constant search for food and with each journey it became harder and harder to return. Last year his family were forced to come to the watering hole later than usual, as their search for food took them many miles away across the parched lands. On the long journey they walked through dry, swirling dust and past dead and sun-bleached bushes, there was very little too eat.
“It was so bad that my baby sister who was only a few months old could not go on any further and she died along the way. We stopped, and tried our hardest to revive her, she was too hungry and thirsty, and there was nothing we could do. Her body had had enough my mother had said. We all wanted to stay with her and comfort her soul, but we could not because we needed to find water ourselves.”
“When we finally reached the place we found that there was less water than ever before and what there was left was dirty and warm, it seemed that everybody had needed to use it. There is no grass to graze for miles around. The rains should have come by now, they are long overdue. Without the knowledge of the elders I do not know what we shall do.”
