in between dreams
in between dreams
there is the waiting
watching midges juggle one another
in the last lemon light
in between dreams
there is the listening
tensions cool in the gutters flex and crack
carrying a liquid sun down to sleep
in between dreams
there is the touching
of cups held too close to the heart
helping loneliness from hurting the hands
in between dreams
there is the palpable gap
Magritte clouds parade on the hill
and there is no sensing or reasoning with anything
in between dreams
there is the whole
hanging on the edge of the moon begging a gorgeous blue to bleed to gold
I am waiting in between dreams
