Description

Coastal Hazard: Seen from a distance the danger becomes apparent.
People long to live by the sea, they relish the sea views, the romantic aspect, gazing at vast skies and beautiful sunsets. Some people even retire to coastal towns to take in the fresh air and the exhilarating sea breezes. To walk their dogs repeatedly up and down the beach in all weathers, something new always gets washed up. The holiday cottages and the retirement homes are placed a stone's throw away from the beach. Sometimes, the peaceful dwellings are situated on a cliff top or headland which overlooks the picturesque town which is beautiful all year round. The sea, the sea the constant sound, constantly moving and eroding the ground. Coastal pathways and short walks to the beach are getting worn and getting difficult for the elderly to comfortably enjoy. Spring tides, autumn gales, summer heatwaves and winter storms batter and grab at the land beneath the gentle slopes. Forever eroding and never ceasing, just as it has always been. Nothing will stand in the weathers way. Now that there is more emphasis on the extreme.
