Dave started taking photographs for fun, with a camera he inherited from his father. It had moving needles, manual focus and a manual film advance, which should give some idea as to how long he’s been doing it.

These days he uses slightly more modern gear, but still enjoys capturing an image as much as ever. Bright, saturated colour, strong shapes and repetition, and abstraction through the selection of small details are recurring themes in his pictures.

Dave photographs a wide range of subjects – what unites his work is its simplicity, a desire to tell a story with every shot, and a hope that it will make people smile. He occasionally photographs people, although not as often as his wife would like.

His work is regularly on show in galleries and public spaces, and features in many private collections throughout the UK.
