Tony Prior, paint & print

My art mainly is a natural progression of my ideas, I think of myself as an Abstract modernist painter always looking to invent, re-invent.
Going to Bristol art college 76-79 gave me the confidence to follow my own ideas, at the same time looking at & learning from other artists, old & new.

Visiting artists & lecturers who I met and influenced me include:
Patrick Heron, Rose Hilton, Hassal Smith, William Scott, Patrick Hughes, Ivon Hitchens, Terry Frost, Maggie Hambling, Peter Fuller, Alf Stockham & Paul Feiler (my personal tutor).

After college I started my own business building Enterprise racing sailing dinghies but had to give up in the late 1990's after developing MS which caused me mobility & eyesight problems, RNIB registered. I also am in remission from bone marrow Myeloma cancer.

On the positive side this allowed me to get back to creating art.
